  • Mahebourg (Mauritius) - Mahebourg in South East Mauritius is where the only major Airport is and where all travellers arrive from flights all over the world.
  • Flic en flac - Flic en flac lies on the western edge of Mauritius Island where many luxury resorts are located. Flic en flac is most convenient for visiting Casela Bird park and sightseeing around North and South Mauritius.

Tour Itinerary

A Typical 6-day Mauritius itinerary offered by most premium / luxury resorts in Mauritius for guests looking to visit and explore some of the popular areas and experiences of Mauritius

Day-1 Arrival at Mauritius Arrive in Mahebourg Airport in Mauritius

Transfer to the hotel. Enroute pass sugarcane fields and serene green backdrop. It can take anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hour to reach the hotel depending on exact location of the hotel on the island.

Day-2 North Island Visit including Caudan Waterfront and Casino

After Breakfast proceed on a full day North Island tour of Mauritius that includes a a visit to the Caudan Water front with shopping centers, boutiques, art & craft market and casino. Return by evening.

Day-3 Full day South Island Tour

After Breakfast proceed on a full day South Island tour of Mauritius. Visit the Chamarel water fall and the seven colored dunes of volcanic ash, Black River Gorges & Plaine Champagne View Points, the Grand-Bassin, Known as Ganga Talao, a crater of an extinct volcano, Trou Aux Cerfs – a crater of extinct volcano 85 meters deep and more than 200 meters wide, and visit to the diamond showroom, floral boutiques of sweaters & t-shirts. Return by evening.

Day-4 Full day Ile Aux Cerfs Tour

After Breakfast take a tour to Ile Aux Cerfs. Ile Aux Cerfs is an island resort with cystal clear waters and long beaches fringed by filaos trees. You can choose from the various water activities available at the island, banana boat ride, parasailing, kayaking, etc. at a nominal cost. Return by evening.

Day-5 Optional tours. Undersea Walk / Parasailing / Submarine Trip / Casela Bird Park / Ile aux Aigrettes Nature reserve

After Breakfast, it is recommended that one takes one of the options tours. Undersea walk (does not require swimming experience) and Parasailing is one recommended for all travellers. Submarine trip is also one recommended for all travellers (advance reservation required). Family travellers may head for Casela Bird Park (requires at least half day trip) or Ile aux Aigrettes Nature reserve (Requires half day trip).

Day-6 Experience Mauritius. Local Cuisine, Self drive, snorkelling / scuba trips or just laze around the beach and do nothing.

We recommend that after being at Mauritius for 5 days, spend a day to either capture essense of Mauritius (Local Cuisine, Self drive, snorkelling / scuba trips, Beach barbecues) or just switch off to laze around the beach and do nothing.

Day-7 Departure

Depart by afternoon for the onward journey

Watersports in Mauritius - Watersports and activities around water are conducted on almost every beach in Mauritius. Watersports include Banana Boat ride, Parasailing, Glass bottom boat ride, Undersea walk and Submarine trip. Sailing and Windsurfing are also popular in Grand Baie and Le Morne Peninsula.

Casela Bird Park - Casela Bird park is located just a short drive from Flic en flac and offers a range of activities and experiences around birds and wildlife. Casela has a large collected of caged birds. Beyond that it has wildlife such as deers, Tiger and Ostritch. There are experiences on offer here such as Walk with the Lion and ATV rides that are must do.

Black River Gorges National Park - Black River Gorges National Park is a national park in the hilly south-western part of Mauritius. It offers excellent views of the valley and the rainforest and visited enroute Chamarel area.

Chamarel Seven Colored Earth - The Seven Coloured Earth are a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel plain of the south-western Mauritius. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow) and is a popular tourist attraction.

Ganga Talao - Ganga Talao is pilgrimage for Hindus in Mauritius and visited by tourists from India. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and other Gods including Hanuman, Lakshmi, and others along the Grand Bassin. During Shivaratri, many pilgrims in Mauritius walk bare feet from their homes to the lake.

Pamplemousses Botanical Garden - The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden commonly known as the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, is a popular tourist attraction near Port Louis, Mauritius, and the oldest botanical garden in the Southern Hemisphere. The garden was first constructed by Pierre Poivre (1719 – 1786) in 1770, and covers an area of around 37 hectares. While the garden is most famous for its giant water lilies, the garden features spices, ebonies, sugar canes as well as 85 varieties of palms from Central America, Asia, Africa and the islands around the Indian Ocean.

Ile aux Aigrettes Nature Reserve - Ile aux Aigrettes Nature reserve lies in the South - East corner of Mauritius and where one arrives for Turtles, birds, crocodiles, butterfly museum etc. The area is fun for kids and therefore recommended for family travelers.

Rochester Falls - Rochester Falls is a waterfall in South Mauritius. Set around picturesque sugarcane plantations, the waterfalls are perennial and about 33 ft in height.

Ile Aux Cerfs Island - Ile Aux Cerfs Island is visited off Bella mare. Ile Aux Cerfs is a destination resort where guests arrive for a day trip. There is a restaurant, watersports and crystal clear beaches to just laze around.
